Euronantes project is located between the historic city center, the main railway station and the banks of the river Loire, and close to the island of Nantes. This new quarter corresponds to a growing population, an economic sector that seeks to maintain local employment as well as the development of start-ups, new technologies and sustainability. The plot E1 makes part of this ambition and aims to highlight the new offer in terms of quality of living. It is important to create urbanity on two levels: the quarter and the plot. It was our intention to develop a project that responds clearly to accessibility and attractiveness. The building is conceived with intelligence and generosity in an environment that is in a process of mutation. The base of the building hosts different activities and public facilities. Four pillars allow the necessary transparency in order to activate the ground floor. The upper volume that integrates the housing units is constituted by stacked “packages” differentiated by two kinds of facades: two levels are wood cladded and the next three levels by metal sheets. This variety in the treatment of the balconies highlights the generous and user-friendly aspect of the whole concept. The resulting terraces created by shifting the volumes allow the creation of green terraces and a smooth transition between the public and the private spaces. The building makes the most of the landscape and offer to each housing unit access or view to a green space.
