Programmatic interrelationship, spirit of site, perception and detail
Vector Architects was founded in 2008 in Beijing. We have always believed that design needs to confront problems since the first day. Instead of enforcing architect's ego or making superficial forms, a good architect has to respect the existing environment with logic and reasons. The contemporary Chinese design industry features the rapid production and the pursuit of tall, big and fancy-formed landmarks. Architects no longer devote their efforts in the fundamental and substantial truth of architecture. Therefore, the persistence of confronting problems is essential and crucial in this environment.

Programmatic Interrelationship – Every architectural program contains a unique interrelationship among functional units. To a large extent, such interrelationship defines behavioral pattern and living habit of users. It cannot be duplicated because each building varies due to its specific occupants. We are devoted to discover the programmatic interrelationship of each project, and reveal it in spatial structure.

Spirit of Site – Each site has a unique spirit of the place. Space is a medium that encourages people to perceive such spirit.

Perception – The rapid development of digital communication makes human life fast and efficient, yet superficial and utilitarian. We believe that architecture is the power being able to balance such trend, to pull us back into tranquility, to allow us to be sensitive to the beauty of light, breeze, and material, and to be assertive of our own existence within the physical world.

Detail – In architecture, all elements such as space, structure and other components are ought to support each other and compose the system as a whole, like an organism. This logic is expressed in every detail that not only carries the rationality of the construction joints and finish, but presents the whole system of architecture.
