Competition Design Architect

We are seeking a creative, disciplined, highly organized, and critical thinking Competition Design Architect to join our Shenzhen China office for projects ranging from large-scale high-rises to sophisticated cultural landmarks. You will be part of a fast-paced and rigorous design-oriented studio with a collaborative and supportive team environment dedicated to the passion for design perfection. You will contribute to the development of the design, lead and coordinate the team through the competition, to ensure the delivery of excellent results in a timely and organized manner.

Desired Skills and Expertise
  • Must have successful leading/management experience in large-scale projects and competitions. 
  • Must have successful experience in communicating with and overseeing model makers, rendering companies and graphic artists to ensure the results meet the design intent and deliver in a timely and organized manner.
  • Must be experienced in the different phases of large-scale and complex projects.  Excellent understanding of construction process and ability to set up and manage in-depth the designing process starting from the concept and until executive phase.
  • Good communication skills are required, including well-developed written, visual and verbal capabilities
  • Collaborative - you must be able to work effectively with others to help achieve the best solution for the competition team, the wider design team, and the client
  • You must have leadership qualities through taking initiative, problem-solving, showing assertiveness and enthusiasm
  • You must be positive in outlook, self-motivated and able to lead a competition team effectively through highly stressful and demanding competitions
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, graphics software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, MS Office including Project, Word, Excel, etc. is required. Knowledge of 3D programs such as Rhino is a plus
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • A minimum of 6 years experience, prior experiences of working in China is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the team through intense large-scale competitions, create and follow through competition work schedules, organize, supervise and coordinate team members to deliver successful results.
  • Working with the Design Principal in charge, the Competition Design Architect will help initiate conceptual ideas, develop the design and ensures that the team stays on schedule, and executes the documents that conform to the design intent as well as national standard requirements.
  • Review the drawings and documents produced by the team, provide comments for revisions as necessary, coordinate and ensure the revisions are executed correctly.
  • Communicate with, coordinate and oversee model makers, rendering companies and graphic artists to stay on schedule and deliver excellent results.
  • Lead and actively produce in the making of presentation graphics and documents, be able to give reviews, suggestion and deliver perfect execution of graphics.

Project Architect / Designer
We are seeking creative, disciplined, and critical thinking Project Architect to join our Shenzhen China office for large-scale urban design and high rise projects in China.  You will be part of a fast-paced and rigorous design-oriented studio with a collaborative and supportive team environment. You will contribute to the development of the design and will lead and coordinate the project team through the phases of our professional practice from competition, concept design, schematic design, design development, coordinate with the local design institute during construction documents and construction administration. 
 
Desired Skills and Expertise
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical and analytical thought process needed for problem-solving
  • Organizational and team leading skills
  • Well versed in the design and technical aspects of architecture, knowledgeable in building systems and be sensitive to the integration of these variables into a holistic design solution
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • 6-10 years of progressively responsible professional experience.
  • A strong portfolio of thoughtful design solutions of large-scale, complex projects including high rise towers and urban designs
  • Extensive experience in competition as well as realization of large-scale complex projects from conceptual to construction completion.
  • Strong graphics skills required for presentation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, graphics software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign MS Office including Project, Word, Excel, etc. is required.  Knowledge of 3D programs is a plus.
  • Must be fluent in English.  Knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin) and German or other languages is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Leading and coordinating the project team through the phases of our professional practice from competition, concept design, schematic design, design development, coordinate with the local design institute during the production of construction documents and provide support during the construction process. 
  • Working with the Design Principal in charge, the Project Architect will help initiate conceptual ideas, develop the design and ensures that the team stays on schedule, and executes the documents that conform to the design intent as well as national standard requirements.
  • Review the drawings and documents produced by the team, provide comments for revisions as necessary, coordinate and ensure the revisions are executed correctly.
  • Coordinate and involve in the production of presentation graphics as well as making the presentation as necessary.

Architectural Intern
We are seeking architectural interns with creative design and presentation skills to join our Shenzhen China office. You will be part of a fast-paced and rigorous design-oriented studio with a collaborative and supportive team environment.
 
Successful candidates will have studied at accredited architecture schools for more than 4 semesters and must be able to work for a period of 6 - 12 months. Desired qualifications include a high design sensibility with a strong portfolio of personal or prior professional projects.  Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign is required. Skill in Rhino and 3Dmax is preferred. Candidates should have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rigorous studio with associated deadline pressures, and must also be capable of working within a collaborative and supportive team environment.  Successful candidates must be fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and English.  Knowledge of German or other languages is a plus.
