Project Description:

Two connected natural lakes in the centre of Anqing city are the main characteristic of the urban framework. This zone is gradually becoming the most important public culture site of the city. The Art Center of Huangmei Opera is located in this lake-circled zone. The building is composed of three parts: a theatre, a mini art school and a small office building.

For the limitation of acreage and height, the base is close to the lakeside. We hope that the huge volume of the building can disappear to the greatest extent. So we construct a continuing hoist of the plaza floor that form a slope to cover the most of the volume of the building, and the remains that stand out of the slope form a light and thin layer combined with small houses, corridors, yards, and platforms.
