A residential and commercial building (1971-1973) by Eduard Neuenschwander on the banks of Lake Zurich had to be repaired for structural and technical reasons. The existing entrance floor, embedded slightly in the terrain, housed additional functions. The section facing the lake was opened up and converted into offices, while retaining the volume. The existing exposed concrete steps, along with the striking wall murals by Karl Schmid, were restored. The residential section on the attic floor was built as an expansion of the office floor with the same dimensions. The existing exposed concrete brise soleil facing the lake were redesigned to be used as an entrance hall or office space. A new, expressive roof landscape was developed based on the design drawings by Eduard Neuenschwander. Together with the retention of the existing outer wing of the façade, the rhythm of the façade was assumed. The vertical pilaster strips made from drawn aluminium profiles were reconstructed according to the originals. The new room-high glass panels allow a more direct view of the surroundings.
