A new residential complex is being built on a former brownfield site along Ferdinand-Happ-Strasse in the Ostend district of Frankfurt. Scheduled for completion in 2017 this new development is based on an overall plan by a working group of three architectural practices. Each practice is responsible for individual plots, the design proposals being guided by an overarching urban planning concept. In this context Stefan Forster Architekten is building a total of 124 apartments divided between four blocks arranged in groups of two in the southwest and the northeast corners. Characteristic of the architectural design of these mostly seven-floor buildings with penthouse storey, are a differentiated façade design and the use of alternating red- and beige-coloured clinker. On the southwest corner additional emphasis is given to the entrance situation to the new development by the distinctive curves and profiles of the balconies and parapets.
